Giusto per confondere, la introduttiva Muna erompe con discrezione carsica, successivamente conturbata da un coro femminile ultraterreno, invero collocabile tra goth, doom e il coro delle voci bulgare per come abbiamo imparato a conoscerlo nel pipppero. La tavolozza post rock inzaccherata di stilemi mostrata, invero con una evidente baldanza, in Captains of north rivela invece pregi e difetti di una composizione sì consapevole (le tinte epiche di The quiet roads sono indiscutibilmente efficaci), senz'altro trascinante (è il caso, ammettiamolo delle progressioni black-imperatoriali di Black slit, poi convergenti asintoticamente verso la successiva Rivers unders, assieme alla quale compone una sorta di mini-suite) eppure solo saltuariamente originale. Semplicemente disdicevoli le due voci: un growl pre-adolescenziale la prima e una specie di gorilla con una cassaforte sulla pancia (la stessa timbrica del Fantozzi antifrastico che che esclama "Ma com'è umano lei...", se avete modo di ricordarvela), la seconda. L'album, eminentemente strumentale, sarebbe una sorta di messa in scena musicale delle atmosfere dell'omonimo romanzo dello scrittore croato Kristian Novak, conterraneo della band, e sarebbe stato realizzato nientemeno che col contributo del Ministero della Cultura croato.

Q1 - What is the relationship between your album and Kristian Novak's novel? Can you explain a bit about it?

A1 - The title of the album is actually taken from the novel Črna mati zemla by Kristian Novak. The novel itself is (or isn’t) connected with the overall theme of the album. The point is for the listener to approach the music from their own perspective. Each person will listen to the album in their own way. It’s up to the band to convey their emotions and thoughts as a whole, offering a unique experience to each listener.

Q2 - I think your sound was influenced by the many post-something band availble nowadays. Do you recognize yourself in any musical scenery? Which are your reference bands?

A2 - We don’t care about the labels in terms of genre. Some will say this is post rock, others will call it post metal and then there are those who will disagree with the first two. What matters is that we enjoy our music and that it means something to us. Of course, it’s always nice to be compared with Isis, Cult of Luna or Caspian. :)

Q3 - OK. And what about now?

A3 - We plan to do a little tour in the spring. The record is here; we can finally enjoy performing our music live.
